For a POP VIP pickup, identify the flight segment that actually arrives at Puerto Plata Airport, airport code POP. If it is a codeshare, send the flight number shown on your ticket together with the operating airline and its flight number, if available. Label the details clearly and ask dispatch to confirm the arriving service. If you cannot find the operating flight number, explain that rather than guessing. The aim is to identify your arrival clearly, even when the airline labels differ between documents.
Why your ticket can show a different airline
A codeshare allows an airline to sell seats on a flight operated by another airline. The marketing airline sells the flight under its own airline code and flight number. The operating airline is the airline that flies it.
This means the airline named prominently on your booking may differ from the airline shown beside ‘operated by.’ A different flight label does not, by itself, mean you have two separate flights.
Look at the details for the relevant segment in your current airline itinerary or confirmation email. If the documents appear inconsistent, ask the airline or travel agent to clarify them.
Start with the segment arriving at POP
For a connecting itinerary, do not simply copy the first flight number in the booking. Find the segment whose destination is POP. That is the arrival the transfer request needs to describe. Check these details together:
- Departure airport for that segment.
- Arrival airport: POP.
- Local arrival date.
- Scheduled arrival time.
- Flight number displayed on the ticket.
- Any ‘operated by’ airline information.
If you are unsure which date belongs to the arrival, use the POP VIP flight-date guide. The date you leave home and the date you arrive in Puerto Plata may differ.
Send both flight labels when you have them
If your itinerary supplies both a marketing flight number and an operating flight number, include both with clear labels. For example:
Flight number shown on my ticket: [airline and number].
Operated by: [airline].
Operating flight number, if shown: [number].
Arrival airport: POP.
Local arrival date and scheduled time: [details].
These placeholders are a message format, not an example of an actual airline service.
If the form gives you one flight field, enter the arriving flight information you can verify and explain the codeshare in the notes. Ask POP VIP to confirm which service it has identified.
Do not invent an operating number, remove part of a flight number, or replace your itinerary details with a similar-looking flight found online.
If only the ticketed number is available, say so. A clear explanation is more useful than an uncertain correction.
A booking reference is not the flight number
An airline booking reference identifies a reservation. It is different from the flight number identifying the service. A travel-agent reference, e-ticket number or reservation code should not be entered as though it were the arriving flight number.
Find the field labelled ‘flight’ or ‘flight number’ beside the segment arriving at POP. If you cannot identify it, ask the airline or agent for the arriving flight details.
When requesting help from POP VIP, share the relevant itinerary information rather than an unrelated collection of booking documents. There is no need to include payment credentials in a transfer enquiry.
Tell the team if the arriving flight changes
Use the current itinerary when sending your request. If the airline later replaces the flight, changes the date or moves the arrival to another airport, send a clear update identifying what has changed.
A different airline label on a codeshare is not necessarily a replacement journey. Equally, an actual rebooking should not be dismissed as a codeshare difference.
The flight-change guide explains how to request a review of the road-transfer arrangement.
Wait for confirmation of any revised pickup. Do not assume that sending an airline notification automatically updates every part of the transfer booking.
Confirm the airport meeting separately
Correct flight information helps describe the arrival. It does not mean you will meet the driver at the scheduled landing minute. You still need to complete the applicable airport procedures and collect your luggage before following the confirmed meeting instructions.
Keep the POP VIP pickup instructions, booking name and contact details accessible. If dispatch asks you to clarify a flight label, resolve it before travel where possible.
Use one clear arrival message
Send the flight information alongside the details needed for the private journey:
We would like a POP VIP pickup from Puerto Plata Airport.
Arriving segment: [departure airport] to POP.
Local arrival date and scheduled time: [details].
Flight number shown on the ticket: [airline and number].
Operated by: [airline, if stated].
Operating flight number: [number, or ‘not shown on my itinerary’].
Destination: [exact hotel, villa or address].
Party and luggage: [passengers, bags and equipment].
Travelling contact: [name and reachable number].
Please confirm the arriving flight identified and the transfer arrangement.
Send your POP VIP transfer request with the flight labels explained. An enquiry is not a confirmed reservation; retain the team’s confirmation and check that it matches your current itinerary.
